What does a QR menu with payments actually cost?

Setup fees, monthly subscriptions, transaction percentages — how QR menu pricing models compare, and what a fair deal looks like for a small café.

QR menu pricing comes in three shapes: a monthly subscription (typically €30–€150 per venue), a per-transaction percentage, or 'free' menus that monetise your guests some other way. Which one is fair depends on maths, not marketing.

Compare it to what you already pay

Start with your current costs: card terminal fees (usually 1–2% plus terminal rental), menu printing (a full reprint across a 20-table room runs hundreds of euros a year), and the invisible cost — the waiter-minutes spent ferrying bills and terminals. A QR menu with payments replaces parts of all three.

Why we chose transaction pricing

karta charges €0 setup and €0 monthly — 1.4% per transaction and 4% on tips, with QR stickers included. If your terrace closes for the winter, you pay nothing all winter. The model only earns when you earn, which keeps the incentives honest: our revenue grows when your payment flow actually gets used, not when you sign a contract.

  • €0 setup, €0 monthly — no contract lock-in
  • 1.4% per transaction, 4% on tips
  • Menu, payments, tips, reviews and analytics included
  • POS integrations and open API at no extra charge
The subscription tools all cost money in January when the terrace is closed. This one costs a percentage of bills I'm actually collecting. That's the whole reason I tried it.
