How long does it take to go live?+
Most venues are live within a week, printed stickers included. If your menu already lives in your POS, we can import it on day one.
Do my staff need training?+
If they can read a notification, they're trained. Orders and payments show up in the back office and in your POS like any other check — there's simply less running with terminals.
Can my team have their own accounts?+
Yes — every member signs in with their own login and a role. Owners and managers run the venue, staff get the service tools (floor plan, orders, QR), and your accountant sees reports only. Unlimited seats on every plan.
How does “Help me choose” work for guests?+
A guest taps it in the menu, says what the table feels like — “seafood for three, one vegetarian, around €30 each” — and karta composes an order from the dishes you have available right now, respecting allergies and prices. One tap puts it on their bill, and every line stays editable. It never suggests a dish you don't serve.
Can guests customise a dish?+
Yes. Any add-ons you define — extra shot, oat milk, add bacon, size up — appear right where the guest orders, with the price updating live. The choices and the adjusted price land on the bill and in your POS.
What does karta tell me about my sales?+
The back office shows what sells at breakfast, lunch and dinner, which dishes are rising or falling week to week, and — with AI — three concrete suggestions each week, from bundle ideas to menu fixes.
Do guests need to install an app?+
No. The QR opens a web page that works on any phone. Apple Pay / Google Pay / iDEAL open natively from the browser.
We already have a digital menu — can we keep it?+
Yes. karta can link out to your existing menu while still handling bills, tips and reviews. Most venues switch to the karta menu later for the allergen labelling and translations.
Does it work with our POS?+
karta connects to Lightspeed, unTill, orderbird, Storyous, Square, Zettle, SumUp and Oracle MICROS — and anything else via the open API. The bill the guest sees is the live check from your till.
How do tips reach the staff?+
Tips are collected in the same transaction but routed to a separate staff pool, paid out directly — in most EU countries that keeps them outside venue revenue. Payout schedules are configurable per team.
What does it cost?+
A flat monthly subscription per venue — €39 (Starter) to €79 (Pro), with a free pilot to start. No setup fee, no per-transaction cut, no contract. You keep collecting payments exactly as you do today; guest pay-at-table is on the roadmap.
Is it GDPR compliant?+
Yes — data is processed and stored in the EU, guests can pay without creating any account, and reviews are pseudonymous by default.
